VINYL-FLEX® cap punching and cutting
Electrical, automation and automotive applications often need a protective cap to do two jobs: protect a joint or thread while allowing a wire or cable to pass through. VINYL-FLEX® meets this need with precision punching of a round hole in the wall or closed end of a flexible PVC cap. The material’s natural elasticity (60 Shore hardness) grips the cable without extra seals. Combined with cutting to length, it creates a compact gland with precise dimensions, ready to fit.
Cap punching — round cable openings
We punch or cut a clean round opening directly in the wall or closed end of the cap. A precision tool leaves a neat edge without fraying. Flexible VINYL-FLEX® PVC VINYL-FLEX® (60 Shore hardness) retains its elasticity and structure during punching. The material around the hole does not tear or deform. Its elasticity lets the opening grip the cable and form a natural seal without extra sealing parts.
We position holes precisely to your drawing or sample. Specify the hole diameter, position (closed end or side wall) and distance from the edge. In serial production, we keep hole positions and diameters consistent throughout the batch.
Combining punching and cutting
Punching is especially effective with cutting. We first shorten the cap to the required length, then punch a hole in its closed end to match the cable diameter. The resulting compact flexible PVC gland protects the joint, guides the cable and helps keep out dust and moisture.
This combination is popular in electrical engineering, automotive production and industrial automation. Compared with rigid PVC or polyamide glands, punched VINYL-FLEX® caps seal better thanks to their natural flexibility, fit without tools and resist vibration.
Applications for glands and cable seals
Punched flexible PVC caps serve many industrial applications. They act as cable glands in metal switchboards and cabinets, protecting wire insulation from sharp sheet edges. They can also protect sensor or thermostat outlets on tubes. In vehicles, they protect cable harnesses passing through body panels or engine partitions. Flexible PVC resists acids, bases and salts, so these glands work in demanding chemical environments.
