What secondary finishing is and why it matters
Secondary finishing adapts a completed flexible PVC cap to a customer’s exact dimensional, functional or identification needs. Compared with making a new mould, it is a quick and economical way to achieve the required result without unnecessary investment.
At VINYL-FLEX® we carry out secondary finishing at our Ústí nad Labem plant. We manufacture, modify and deliver the cap as a finished part, so customers need not coordinate several suppliers. This shortens lead times, reduces errors and ensures consistent quality throughout a production run.
VINYL-FLEX® secondary finishing options
Pad printing (single colour) uses a flexible silicone pad to apply permanent designs — logos, symbols, labels or safety markings — directly to flexible PVC. The maximum print area is 70 × 70 mm. A vector PDF emailed to poplastovani@email.cz is the preferred artwork for making the printing plate.
Cutting to length precisely shortens a cap or removes its closed end. This can produce a cap that matches thread depth exactly or an open-ended sleeve for insulation or a feed-through. Machine cutting provides a clean, burr-free edge and consistent dimensions across the run.
Hole punching creates an accurately positioned round hole in the cap wall or base. Flexible PVC stays elastic, allowing the hole to fit closely around a cable and provide both protection and sealing. Punching can be combined with cutting to make a custom feed-through.
When to choose secondary finishing
Secondary finishing is ideal when a catalogue cap is close to the right fit but needs a small change. A cap can be shortened to match a thread instead of paying for a new mould. A standard cap can be punched for a wire feed-through. For company branding, pad printing is a quick, economical option.
