VINYL-FLEX® caps cut to length

A standard cap length often differs from the thread depth or pin length that needs protection, adding cost or complicating assembly. VINYL-FLEX® offers precision machine cutting as a standard secondary operation. We shorten a cap to the specified length with a tolerance of ±1 mm, or remove its closed end to make a through sleeve. You get a precise part ready for assembly without investing in a new mould or compromising cut quality.

Flexible connecting sleeves for pipework and hydraulic systems
Decorative finishing rims for tubes, handles and profiles

What our cap cutting service includes

Cap cutting at VINYL-FLEX® involves two main operations. The first is shortening the length – we cut a standard cap so it fits a thread or pin without excess material. This removes an unwanted air pocket at the end that could cause damage or affect appearance. The second operation is removing the closed end – a clean, sharp cut removes the cap’s closed end. This creates a flexible PVC sleeve, tube or gland that is open at both ends.

Both operations are performed by machine for a clean edge without burrs or unevenness. The ±1 mm length tolerance ensures consistent dimensions across the production batch, giving you interchangeable parts that fit reliably.

When cap cutting is useful

Cutting is ideal when a catalogue cap has the right diameter and material but is too long. For example, a standard cap may protrude from a short thread and interfere with nearby components. Shortening it costs far less than making a new dip mould.

Removing the closed end can create insulating sleeves for cables, protective rims for tubes or flexible connecting sleeves. Automotive customers use this modification for connector boots with a cable outlet. One catalogue mould can therefore produce a new functional part.

How to request cap cutting

Choose a cap from the VINYL-FLEX® catalogue and specify the final internal length after cutting (in mm), or ask for a profile open at both ends. If you are unsure of the size, we can send free samples of standard lengths to try on your part. Then confirm the specification and we will prepare a quotation. Contact us at poplastovani@email.cz.

Typical uses

Machine cutting leaves a clean edge without burrs Cut to the specified length with a tolerance of ±1 mm Closed end can be removed to create a through sleeve Quick modification of a catalogue part without a new mould Consistent dimensions throughout the production batch Can be combined with hole punching and pad printing in one order

What to prepare before choosing

Frequently asked questions about custom cap cutting

Most round, flat and square caps in our range can be cut. A very complex asymmetrical shape or a very small diameter may limit what is possible. We assess each request individually.
The production tolerance for machine cutting is ±1 mm, as with standard cap production. This is sufficient for most industrial applications.
A new dip mould for a different cap length takes time and machining expense. Cutting an existing catalogue cap avoids this cost: you pay for the cutting operation, not a new tool.
Cutting is a separate secondary operation. We quote its price based on quantity and the complexity of the modification.
Yes. VINYL-FLEX® sends samples free of charge. We recommend trying standard lengths on your part before confirming the required length after cutting.
Yes. Cutting is often combined with hole punching: we shorten the cap, then punch a cable hole to produce a complete custom gland.
